Butterfly and Control Valves
Solutions for the Hydrogen Industry
Hydrogen is one of the key energies for a green energy transition. The use of green hydrogen as an energy carrier, produced from renewable energies such as wind and solar, is an integral part of resource-conserving energy cycles. One of the central technologies for its production is hydrogen electrolysis. This requires valves that can withstand extreme temperatures and meet demanding safety requirements. As a valve specialist, we can provide our customers around the globe with shut-off valves for hydrogen applications. Our butterfly valves, such as the triple-eccentric KX Safeflex, guarantee long-term safety and maximum functionality. OHL Gutermuth can implement customized solutions that guarantee sustainable use.

Promoting Climate-Friendly Technologies
Due to our expertise in the field of safe and innovative control and shut-off valves, we have received numerous certificates and awards. We supply butterfly valves
for use in innovative megawatt electrolysis plants for one of the industry’s global players, e.g., in Scandinavia (Finland). Our solutions aim to empower customers in the promotion and development of innovative technologies.
VOLUME
Hydrogen is liquefied by cooling it to approximately −253°C. In this state, its volume is around 800 times smaller than in its gaseous state. This allows liquid hydrogen to be stored and transported in a much more space-saving manner.
TRANSPORT
Due to the significantly lower volume, liquid hydrogen can be transported in larger quantities. For this purpose, it is pumped into specially insulated cryogenic tankers or tank ships, making it suitable for efficient transport over long distances.
STORAGE
In liquid form, hydrogen can be stored in a particularly space-saving way. As an energy carrier, it then finds diverse applications in industry, for example in energy supply, the chemical industry, or in high-temperature processes.
