Design Features

  • Butterfly valve with centrally mounted disc.
  • Housing in cast or forged design.
  • The disc is designed for optimal flow and connected to the drive shaft by taper pins. Type DKK 2 has a through-shaft disc; the zero position in the closed state is adjusted and limited by a stop in the actuator. For type DAK 2, the disc abuts the housing, and the strip is unfinished. Depending on the application conditions, the opening angle of the disc can be selected up to 90°. For control dampers, considering the flow characteristic and dynamic torques, the opening angle is preferably 60°.
  • In the standard version, the shaft is continuous and supported by external rolling bearings. Power transmission from the actuator to the shaft is achieved with a feather key or clamp connection. Additional internal bearings are placed in the stuffing box area below the packing when required.
  • The external bearing supports the forces of the actuator; the associated bearing block is the connection point between the butterfly valve and the actuator.
  • The shaft passage from the medium chamber to the atmosphere is sealed by adjustable packings, whose material is adapted to the operating conditions. Special designs for additional packing lubrication as well as for barrier gas or intermediate suction are available.
